My Thanksgiving plate from our feast at work.
Hey all,
I thought it would be crazy to let an eating holiday pass without posting. I’ve “won” National Novel Writing Month by writing 50,000+ words, but now I’m actually trying to FINISH the novel before the month ends. So far I’m in the 67,000′s, and the end is in sight… sorta. But I’m starting to sweat it– just a bit.
I’m thankful to Monica, who advised me to add Crimini mushrooms and wild rice to my Mrs. Cubbison’s stuffing, and to use vegetable broth instead of water. If you love mushrooms (I do!), stuffing with mushrooms is a revelation. (Monica’s stuffing is pictured, above.)

I need to join a vampire gym.
Hi all. I’m still chipping away at my NaNoWriMo novel. In fact, I’m going to hit 50,000 words today. Which is the goal. But the goalier goal is to finish the novel. As you might have guessed, I’m kind of a wordy person. So the novel is not done. But hopefully it will be, by the end of November. But then I’ll want to write some short stories, etc.
So I’ll still be watching the shows (as I have been, all month), but how much I’ll be blogging? That remains to be seen. Let’s face it– there are a lot of blogs in the blogosphere, doing almost exactly what the Binge does. I am not a unique little snowflake.
But this is just a note to say… I am so excited for tonight’s episode of “Vampire Diaries.” Elena and Stefan are totally going to do it. And I think he’s going to bite her, because in the previews she was wearing a scarf around her neck. But then I think she’s going to find out about Katherine. And FLIP.
My happiness is tempered by sadness, because this is the last new episode of “Vampire Diaries” until 2010. What will I do with my life, until the next episode? Write another novel? Who knows.
Final thought: Stefan’s tattoo– real, or makeup? Did they work Paul Wesley’s existing tattoo in? I could probably figure it out if I saw a really clear picture of it.
Keep doing those crunches, Paul. Are those the abs that sank a thousand ships? Yes, yes they are.

This morning I was skimming Facebook when I noted a very strange word in a friend’s status: NaNoWriMo.
Turns out that it stands for National Novel Writers’ Month.
Basically, you have a month to write a 50,000 word novel. I have often thought, with the amount of words I put into this blog, I could probably be writing a novel. So… I’m going to give myself a month, and see if I can do this.
This doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop writing on the Binge, or stop watching TV. In fact, I watched last night’s “Mad Men.” It was amazing. Amazing. The Kennedy assassination happened an episode before I expected it, and that gave it an extra-surprising punch. I cried. Okay? I cried.
So I’m working on this novel thing this morning. I’ll try to write a little bit about “Mad Men” later. Okay? Okay.
I still love you. I just need to spread my wings and… try?
Oh barf, that was so corny, you’d think I ate candy corn for breakfast. (I didn’t! Give me a little bit of credit, here.)
