Snack of the Afternoon, 8/12/09: CANADA DRY GINGER ALE

Curse you, expiration dates.

Curse you, expiration dates.

I don’t generally drink soda, but every once in a while I get a hankering for just a few sips of Coca Cola. I went into our Fridge of Infinite Drinks, and the Coke Classic (not pictured) didn’t open with the usual hiss. Lo and behold, the expiration date had passed.

Trusty co-worker and I went back into the Soda Storage Zone and discovered that almost all of our sodas were expired. We ended up having the equivalent of a wine taste test, but with soda. “This is swill!” we said, spitting it into a spit-bucket. (Not exactly.)

I ended up settling on a Canada Dry Ginger Ale from the kitchen, which is one of my favorite sodas. (Canada? What could be better?) But it, too, seemed a little flat. Even over ice.

Le sigh.

I will probably end up having some Sun Chips or Joe Joe’s, too– but who wants to read about a repeat?

I’m tring to decipher the code on the Canada Dry Ginger Ale 2 liter bottle. The code is 09102462341B.
Is the expirations “within” this code?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks you,

I think the code date is 2223H.I , and if not please tell me what it is and how to read it ? I just bought some and it doesn’t fizz. Thank you. Mr. Bob Blanco
